By Abner Mercado

ATV tyre choices are among the most important parts of an all road vehicle. The tyres come in different varieties depending on the terrain it is going to be used. Because of this, you have to be very careful when you are out in search for a new pair. The cars are made to endure rough terrains. Thus, you need to select the best batch in order to get the best service.

The following are the types of wheels for different uses or terrains. The first type is the general wheels. They are designed for use in various types of terrains. Usually these wheels are installed right from the manufacturer. They can be used off-road and on-road. They are designed to have good traction with sand, mud, sand, rocky terrain and pavements.

The other type is paddle wheels, which are also known as sand wheels. The treads of the wheels are made of paddles. They resemble the old riverboats stuck to huge balls. The paddles grab and release sand in order to provide the perfect traction. However, they can only be used for sandy landscapes.

There are wheels used in muddy terrains, which are referred to as muddy wheels. To maintain maximum efficiency they are light in terms of weight so as to allow for high-tech suspension. In regards to traction the lugs in the thread patter n are spaced irregularly, also this helps push mud away. This prevents the automobile from being stuck.

Snow and ice are slippery surfaces, which call for snow wheels. This is common during winter seasons. To help the tyre have a strong grip of ice and snow, the wheels will be rapped with tread blocks in a horizontal manner. This gives the impression of wheels having snow chains.

The last of the types is the trail tyres which are the same as the muddy model. However, the only difference between the two types is that the trail type is heavier and less aggressive as compared to the muddy type. The thread pattern is also different for the lugs are more closely placed and short. Nonetheless, they are more costly due to their tough nature and are more durable.

When making ATV tyre choices ensure that you keenly look at the requirements you need before you buy. This includes the weight, type, height and aspect ratio. More to this, inspect the load index, speed rating, and diameter of the wheels.
